24” x 24” x 1.5” Original Acrylic / Oil on Textured Stretched Canvas w/ Painted Edges
While wandering the streets of Nafplio, Greece, I was drawn to the weathered doorway of an abandoned building. Its worn stone, fading colors, and quiet presence seemed to hold the stories of another time. I photographed the doorway, not knowing then where it would lead.
As the painting developed, the doorway became more than an architectural subject. It emerged as a threshold—a passage between the visible and the imagined, between memory and possibility. Floral forms, light, and flowing color began to grow from the structure, transforming the scene into something less about a place and more about a journey.
The door stands as an invitation: to step beyond what is known, to enter a space where memories, dreams, and intuition intertwine. What began as a moment observed in Greece evolved into an exploration of discovery, renewal, and the unseen paths that connect us to the past and to ourselves.
